Healthcare Risk Management Paper
My choose for a targeted healthcare organization is the VA New Jersey Health Care System, which is a non-profit government healthcare organization that consist of two large campuses’ located in New Jersey. The campus is Lyons Medical Center located in Lyons, NJ and the VA Hospital located in East Orange, NJ. The VA New Jersey Health Care System is dedicated in providing care to veterans based on their needs ranging from outpatient to inpatient care in an array of various surgical, acute care, and specialty medical services and programs, such as cardiovascular and infectious disease, mental health, and rehabilitation therapy (U. I will examine public data on the healthcare organization regulations, procedures, and training programs of advocating a safe environment for patients. Also, I will review common incidents that have occurred and how they could have been prevented at the VA New Jersey Health Care System or Saint Michael's Medical Center with recommendations of Risk Management Strategies. In addition, I will review the Institute of Medicine Report on patient safety and medical errors and compare the data.
3. I will provide Risk Management strategies relating to the organization regulations, procedures, and training program and review and evaluate what medical errors occur more frequent at the healthcare organization and why.
4. My project topic, "Risk Management Strategies in Advocating Patient Safety in Healthcare”, will be a value especially for my first targeted organization, the VA New Jersey Health Care System because the VA has a long history of having incidents where medical errors have occurred to veterans, often taking their lives. The project will provide ways to advocate patient safety with good medical judgment and practice, and better Risk Management strategies for prevention of medical errors to promote a more safer environment of receiving medical services and quality of care to
