Rules for Writers, Seventh Edition, Diana Hacker and Nancy Sommers
Pocket folders for submitting essays and keeping your journal
A college dictionary (recommended)
Essays
You will write four essays in this class. The first three essays will each be 2-4 pages in length. The fourth essay will be a research paper that will be 4-6 pages in length and will include a works cited list. If your essay is not at least the minimum length, you will receive a 0 with no option to rewrite. When it says 2-4 pages, you must have at least 2 full pages. A half of a page or three-quarters of a page will not do. Once essays are returned to you, you must keep them for the remainder of the semester.
Format
On assigned essay due dates, remember to submit all required materials (peer-edited copies and your final draft) in a pocket folder. All major essays must meet the following requirements:
Be typed or printed on a word processor
Be double-spaced
Include all peer-edited copies and your final draft (in that order)
Be fastened with a staple in upper left-hand corner
Use a 12-point font in Times New Roman
Use one-inch margins on the top, bottom, and sides
Use correct MLA format and documentation (Heading, Title, and Numbered pages)
Late Papers
I do not accept late papers. You must find a way to get papers to me on the due date or prior to the due date. If you are having a problem that prevents you from meeting the deadline, please discuss this with me before your paper is due.
Rewrite Policy
