Herald Angels Sing
Christmas is a holiday full with joy. During this season, we think about presents. Family is a big part of the holidays. Music can bring us all together and some will talk about Christ, and His birth. “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” is one of these songs and it has a very interesting history, a message in the song about our Lord and Savior’s birth, and favorites always occur in songs and stanzas - mine for this song are just around the corner. ”Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” has some history and background that can fascinate you. This beloved Christmas carol first appeared in 1739, in the Collection of Hymns and Sacred Poems. Charles Wesley was the original author of the song, and God chose him and his brother were to bring about an awakening …show more content…
One of the parts that stand out to me, is when it says, “Jesus, our Emmanuel,” because Emmanuel means “God with us,” Jesus is God with us, He has dwelled among us but some people don’t get that. Another one of those parts that stand out to me is the part that says, “Hark the Herald Angels Sing: Glory to the newborn King!”, for even the royal messenger angels sing to glorify Jesus, so that means: we should glorify Jesus! One of my favorite stanzas of the song is the first stanza, ”Hark the herald angels sing ‘Glory to the newborn King!’ Peace on earth and mercy mild God and sinners reconciled" Joyful, all ye nations rise…,” because it tells us that God and we are not separated anymore, making me happy, it tells us to join to worship Jesus, and that success was ours because Jesus was born. My second favorite stanza is the second stanza, “Christ by highest heav'n adored Christ the everlasting Lord! Late in time behold Him come Offspring of a Virgin's womb Veiled in flesh the Godhead see Hail the incarnate Deity Pleased as man with man to dwell…,” because it says, “Christ our everlasting Lord!”, it means that He is eternal, that He will be the one we can always go to for help or a nice chat, and that we will be eternal, since we are sons and daughters of God, the King most High. My favorite lines of the song are “Jesus, our Emmanuel,” because it stands out to me, and it’s really awesome that when we get to see Jesus, we’ll know that He’s God with us and that’ll help me to not doubt Him and His power. My second favorite line says, “Peace on earth and mercy mild”; this is my second favorite stanza because the angels were proclaiming peace on the earth, like, that I would proclaim peace if I wouldn’t have to do it in public, and the “mercy mild” part means like to me that the compassion and pity that God gives us is real, not to mock us, and that it comes gently. These are the parts

Finch utilized several literary devices in her poem. The second half of the poem is full of Allusion, where Finch references stories and figures from the Bible. “That saul upon the vast applause does frown, And feels its mighty thunder shake the crown, What can the threatened judgement now prolong? Half the kingdom is already gone” (Line 39) King Saul felt threatened by David after he returned home from conquering Goliath. When he returned “a bright chorus meets” to greet him home, and Saul immediately wants him killed. Saul never succeeds and eventually David becomes king. Women sang in the streets, they were merely objects to greet the men home from war and fluff them upon their arrival.…

He says, “And there the lion’s [i.e. Jesus Christ’s] ruddy eyes / shall flow with tears of gold” (33,34). Then the speaker says, “Wrath by his meekness, / and by his health, sickness” (37,38). Here the poet is referring to how Jesus does not retaliate, and that Jesus protects his people through self-sacrifice. The poet is saying that everyone is a child of God’s great flock and that Jesus is the shepherd. In the final lines of the poem the poet refers to a river. He says, “For, wash’d in life’s river [i.e. heaven]” (45). The poet to conclude the poem when he says “My bright mane for ever / shall shine like the gold / as I guard o’er the fold” (46,48) which means that the sun, also known as Jesus, will always be there to watch over the creatures on…

In Michael Byer’s Work “Monuments to Our Better Nature” he uses subjective descriptions to help us understand how magnificent he saw the National Mall as a child in comparison to his adult view. Both of his perspectives help us understand what experiences he has been through, and the changes they brought. As a child he takes time describing all the fascinating things he saw, and as an adult he feels nostalgic towards them. His title makes me feel that Byers as an adult he feels like, only the good things in history are represented but not the ones that can make us feel shame.…

In the fifth and sixth stanzas, the speaker reveals that his lover has died "and went to church alone." It means that she has gone to church alone before their time. The speaker says "My love rose up so early", meaning that his lover has gone up to heaven. In addition, the speaker used expressions like "Groom there was none to see" and "The mourners followed after", to describe the loss of his lover. In the last stanza the speaker says that the bells are still ringing but they now represent funeral bells.…

The form of the poem “Amazing Grace” is different from other literature readings from the book. “Amazing Grace” is a special type of literature; a poem in a form of a song. “A hymn is a lyric poem or sacred song which is written in praise to a deity or spirit” (Wheeler, 2012). This type of literary form is appealing to read and hear. The poem comes to life as it is being played. This type of literary form has an advantage over other types due to the poem is being composed specifically to be heard, not read.…

I have chosen my 5 song lyrics about the Beatitudes from “The Beatitudes Song” written by Benjamin Tribe. My first song lyric is “Blessed are the poor in spirit those who see the sin in their hearts.” This relates to the Beatitude “Blessed are the poor in spirit” because it talks about the people who see and admit their strengths and weaknesses. My second song lyrics is “Blessed are the one who is weeping cause sin has torn the whole world apart.” This relates to the Beatitude “Blessed are those who mourn” because it talks about the people who are aware of the good and bad that is around them.…
