Herman Webster Mudgett or HH Holmes was a murder that confessed to ending the lives of 27 victims, and was convicted of 1 murder but was also suspected of 100+ murders. Herman Mudgett was male, white, and his height was not known. Mudgett was born on May 16th, 1861 and was raised in Gilmanton, New Hampshire. HW Mudgett was the 3rd youngest of 3 others siblings. Louis, discovered that Holmes and Howe had been related in the character of lawyer and client in a case where Holmes had been arrested under the name of H.M. Howard for obtaining goods under false pretenses. Then, it was found that Holmes and Pitzel had been in business together in Chicago during the world's fair, where they conducted a hotel with secret rooms in which they hid goods obtained by swindling merchants. This place was called World’s Fair Hotel.

HW Mudgett brought the weapon with him when they went to “get rid of” his victims. Mudgett also used a blindfold to abuse his victims. Victim's’ body had burn marks as well. Holmes sometimes even brought the victim’s body home with them. HH Holmes was convicted due to confession of murder of 27 victims.
