Does anybody here love Asian food? If the answer is “yes”, so you must go to Asian restaurants at least once, right? There is one common thing that most of Asian restaurants have, can you guess what it is? They are chopsticks. I know some of you may know how to use chopsticks, and some may struggle with them. Therefore, today I will teach you three ways to use chopsticks properly, from the easy level to the advanced level. Right now, I am going to give each of you a pair of chopsticks, so we can practice using them together, following my instruction.
The first thing I want to tell you before starting our lesson is: the wrapper of these chopsticks can be really useful if you know how to make good use of it. With this paper cover, I can fold it into half and half, and there we have a cute little thing to place your chopsticks when you do not use them (chopsticks rest or Hashioki in Japanese). Using this thing can prevent you from putting your chopsticks directly on the tables, which can be dirty sometimes in the restaurants. And we have already had almost all the necessary tools for an Asian meal, why don’t we begin our lesson right now? Let’s get started! My first method is the easiest, and it is suitable for those who have never used chopsticks. First, I use a rubber band to tighten the top of my chopsticks. By using this rubber band, you have more control over your chopsticks. Therefore, all you should do afterwards is just using your two fingers to open the chopsticks and pick up the food you want! It is really basic and easy, right? If you can master my first method, the second one may not get you to trouble! My second method is also my favorite one, which I have always used since I was little up until now! Let’s divide our five fingers into three separate parts: The thumb and the index finger will stand alone, the other three should stick together. Secure the first stick in the crook between your thumb and index finger
