The theme for the movie is that people will betray you. "Will, I think you ought to go while there is still time. It's better for for you and better for us" (Foreman 315). This was said by one of Will Kane's best friends. Earlier in the movie he was at his wedding as his best man. Not even his best friend would help him against his enemies. Even when you think you know someone, you never do. People change very quick. Will Kane thought everyone loved him and would risk there life for him, but he was wrong. Not nearly as many people volunteered as he wanted. In the short story the theme is hunting is bad. Rainsford was a very big hunter and didn't think animals had feelings. He then became the hunted and realized how horrifying it is for the animals. "Rainsford knew now how an animal at bay feels" (Connell 231). In my opinion I think he realized how bad the sport is and retired as a hunter. There is one theme present in both stories. This was "Kill or be Killed," and showed that both characters had to defend themselves by hurting others. Kane had to kill four men because they wanted to kill him. He rather is be then than him. Although Rainsford didn't have to kill the bad guy in the end he still had to survive throughout the story. This is why he was trying to kill the bad
