I can bring it all together. Now in the beginning we see that three wise men have traveled a long distance to bring a baby some very expensive gifts to celebrate the baby's birth.
Now today it is claimed that we also can celebrate the baby by doing the same thing. We can buy expensive things and travel long or short distances to give them to that special someone. So what's the big deal the wise man did the same thing. Then we have those special shopping days in which the stores fight for your business hoping to gain more profit, and increase their consumer base in the long run. How is this any different than the religions of the world fighting and killing and threatening the populace as per on death remain in a place called hell for all eternity, all in the name of each one's God. Sound like shopping to me, stores just like religions all trying to get more customers to increase their profit margins. So what's the problem, Christmas seems to exemplify business and religion. Then we have all of those bargains, this is the great tragedy of Christmas, people using Christmas as nothing more than getting stuff cheap and don't feel guilty about it either. Sort of taken advantage of the stores; right! Now we can see that this has nothing to do with Christmas at all don't you think? But let us now look at it this
way. How many people are there that take Jesus as their Savior and use it just to get all they can out of him by using his sacrifice as a free ride or bargain basement price for eternal life. Knowing that they can sin and sin and sin some more and be assured of their future. So a store gives you a bargain and you love it, but one man who was beaten to a pulp and a bloody mess for your sins (as per Scripture) is not really a bargain and should not be celebrated. I think that if one is to celebrate such a holiday as Christmas we can see that by looking at the whole picture considering all of the elements involved, that we can or could bringing the two together, religion and gifts and all the rest of it. Now as far as I'm concerned Christmas is fine but should not even be considered a holiday of any religious meaning anymore. I would rather it be called forgiveness Day and have another date given the title of happy holidays. This will also bring a piece between a religion and the hustle and also of gift giving. To me the two just don't add up right together. But then when I watch all of the preachers telling us that we are not celebrating Christmas for the right reason and then see Christmas trees and decorations in the church, I say to myself, what hypocrisy!
