REACTION PAPER:
HIMALA: THE MUSICAL PLAY

In the remote village of Barrio Cupang, a young girl named Elsa claims that the Virgin Mary has spoken to her during a solar eclipse. She reveals her vision and starts healing people. Soon, Elsa becomes a national figure. Hundreds of pilgrims and curiosity seekers invade her village and forces townsfolk to examine their own beliefs. Himala is originally played by Ms. Nora Aunor who gained a lot of awards because of this movie. This story is about faith, of what you believe in.
I never watched this movie and it is my first time last Sunday to watched it. I was thrilled to know that it was been into a musical form. At first, I thought that the money I paid who'd be not worth it but I was wrong. The whole production was great especially the actors. The music or effects was really convincing. When it comes to their setting/lights, it was also good even though they only had one setting but the lights are what attracts me more. It made the whole production more appealing to the audience. Also he actors played their role well and I was wowed of how they act. They really caught my attention. The girl who portrayed Nimia is my favorite. She did her role very well. Every time she is on stage I can see that every one are focused to her not just because of her role but because she is really a great actress. She is really good at singing and you can see the emotion on her face, that she is really doing her role well. The girl who played Elsa is also a great actress. Her voice is really good and she is also portrayed her role well. I was convince with how she acts the role as Elsa.
The whole production was great and I really enjoyed watching it. All of the actors made a great performance, the music, the portaying of their roles. It was a great and excellent performance, it was worth watching.

The movie was great because how they acted their roles were exceptional. Honestly, the roles given to them are really hard because they will handle all the emotional and physical challenges of their roles. You really need a good actors to be able to act it out, and so they did. It was so moving, since you are able to see hopeless people who as much as possible keep their selves positive and enthusiastic in life. It is directed by Penny Marshall, the film was produced by…

The cast suited well with the characters, I personally thought that Pia Miranda portrayed Josephine very well. The way she acts with excitement and humour, is outstanding and I personally think that she is a gifted actress. The rest of the cast were pleasing to watch, and were also competent at acting.…

From an acting stand point, I had no idea what I watched after seeing this show I just know that it wasn't theatre and it wasn't acting. I felt as if a bunch of adults were running around stage playing dress up and make believe because they failed to portray the characters. The actress Velma Kelly was not as bad as some of the others but she lacked dept and multiple dimensions. The lead Roxie Hart acted like a little bratty school girl which came across as if she had done no character work and got the part of Roxie that day. She had this obviously fake accent that…

The acting in this play was great. The actor I was looking most forward to was Brooke Shields. Honestly don’t think that she was that great. It could have just been the character of Morticia, but after it was all over I felt like she stood out the least. To be fare it could have just been that she was having a bad night though because when she was handing out autographs after the play she apologized for not doing well. The other star, Roger Rees, was pretty good. He definitely was not my favorite part of the show, but he did a good job playing Gomez. He was somewhat dry, but he had enough to keep him memorable. Adam Riegler was the young boy who played Pugsley. He did an outstanding job and unfortunately wasn’t a huge part of the show. I would have liked it if they had involved him in a few more scenes. The best part of the show was definitely Rachel Potter in the role of Wednesday. She blew everyone else out of the water in terms of her acting and singing. She was the true star of the show in my opinion. The way she acted really made the audience want things to work for her and the character Lucas. The actors Heide Blickenstaff and Adam Grupper did a good job in the role of Lucas’ parents. I feel that they did there job in being good character foils to Gomez and Morticia. Jesse Swenson was another actor that I thought did great. He played Wednesdays love interest Lucas. He did a fantastic job and was almost as good as Rachel Potter. Another role which I was disappointed in was Brad Oscar…

The producers couldn’t have hired better actors for the roles of Thomas and Victor and the script was as if it wasn’t even a script. It seemed like it just came so naturally to the characters. If someone came to me asking for examples of a movie with really good acting, I would probably recommend this movie, but otherwise. I would say not to waste your time and watch something more enjoyable, like the romantic comedy “The Wedding…

The characters were satisfactory. Although they were loud and energetic, they did not articulate their words. I could not understand anything that they were saying. I left out of the theatre knowing sixteen words: Rudolph, the, red, nose, reindeer, snow, pay, rent, moon, fuck, you, light, my, candle, Roger, and please! In fact, every line was sung. I felt like the characters were singing at me not to me. In addition, they were all over the place; the characters did not do a good job at conveying the story of Jonathon Larson, throughout the musical they kept running around, jumping, and screaming. By them doing that, it did not…

Overall, I enjoyed my experience seeing “The Lion King”. I can say that parts of the film were really well done and I loved it and then there were other parts that could have been changed or not added in. The show as a whole was entertaining and kept the audience engaged the entire time. I recommend the show to anyone who wants to be entertained, wants to have a show for their first Broadway experience or just a lover of Disney. I am hoping to get the chance to see the show again and see what things that changed over the years of…
