I believe the caster used for Ralphie’s house is most likely to be a universal type caster, because the scenery pieces above it is quire heavy and very low to the ground. Casters are used a lot in this musical, since this show requires a lot of change of scenes. For example, in one scene, Ralphie is in his class room with another 6 classmates and his class teacher. In the second scene, audiences were brought to a scene where people are all dressed up like cow boys and dancing tap dance. After that, we were brought back to the classroom again with students sitting next to their desk. As a we can see, quick scenery changes are required for this show and without casters, the changes would not be achieved. Therefore, it has proven how important portable is for a scenery piece. Rather than using casters to move sceneries, flying system in theatres is also used frequently in this musical. There is not much I can talk about the flying system, since theatre rigging is most about counterweight. However, I was very impressed by how coherent it was when one scenery went out by casters and another came in by flying system and vice versa. To sum up, I really enjoyed “A Christmas Story: The Musical”, as it is a very joyful show which fits in the holiday atmosphere. It also allows me to see lots of design
