Hippolyta And Theseus Analysis

Of the many conflicts within this play, Theseus and Hippolyta was among one of them. Hippolyta and Theseus get married because theseus won her. Theseus and Hippolyta's conflict was he felt as he had control over her. Theseus looked at Hippolyta as his possession. Before marrying Hippolyta he said to her "Hippolyta, I wooed thee with my sword and won thy love doing thee injuries. But I will wed thee in another key: with pomp, with triumph, and revealing." He tells her through this statement that he feels she is his possession because he feels that because he won her through the war, that now he has the award and accomplishment of saying he won the Amazons.
Another conflict within this play was between a young lady of the name Hermia and her father, Eugeus. The conflict that aroused between Hermia and Eugeus came about from her dad forcing her to marry who he likes for her instead of who she truly loves. Hermia refused to marry the man that her father felt was the perfect man for her, which was a man by the name of Demtrius. The man that she truly loved was Lysander. Because she did not want to marry Demetrius, Eugeus felt that his daughter was disobeying him. He
Helena and Demetrius dated in the beginning. Demetrius was in love with Helena, but when Hermia came around he left Helena for Hermia because of her dad. When he left Helena, she was jealous of Hermia because she still loved Demetrius. Hermia always loved Lysander so they tried to run off and get married. When they tried to secretly get married, they did not get that far before Demetrius found out and went to stop it.
