I believe that the historical reenactment strategy better fits my personality as a classroom teacher and that I would feel most comfortable using this with my students. When conducting a historical reenactment scenario in my classroom, I would first establish measurable learning objectives that I want my students to accomplish during the reenactment. One objective will be the students will be able to recreate a historical event as a class with 80% accuracy. I would next identify the content that will be covered for the reenactment. For this reenactment, the students are going to recreate the creation and signing of the Declaration of Independence and will each be given a historical person they will be playing. This scenario will have the students explore the importance of the Declaration of Independence and afterwards they will be able to explain why it was formed. Before the students complete the reenactment, each student will research a specific characters role in society and why they were apart of creating the Declaration of Independence. This reenactment will be done during Freedom Week, and as part of this reenactment the students will be required to recite a portion of the Declaration of
Independence.
