Question
Is art "beautiful" by definition? Are all opinions equal?
Answer
What makes art beautiful is a complicated concept, since beauty is subjective and can change based on context. But, there is a basic human instinct, an internal appreciation, for harmony, balance, and rhythm -- this can be defined as beauty. Beauty in terms of art usually refers to an interaction between line, color, line, sound, shape, motion, and size that is pleasing to the senses. I feel that everyone is entitled to their certain opinion of what is beautiful to them. Many people have certain taste and style that others would not find "beautiful". Some art to people might be considered disturbing imagery but to others it may be classified as "beautiful".
Question
Why does art exist? Does it have a pupose?
Answer
Art exists as a form of expression. In education, there are several recognized ways to communicate, because people gather information best in very different ways. One person is verbal, another tactile (hands on), another visual... Art is another method of expressing what you've got bottled inside you; whether it's music, poetry, sculpture, theater, or photography. The purpose of art is to allow one to express their feelings in a nonverbal manner and it allows one to express their feelings to the world without actually telling the on lookers to the piece of art.
