Same Sex Imagine being in love with someone special, but never having the ability to make the relationship official. For many same-sex couples across the United States is been a reality. Even though great strides have been made in the advancement of gay and lisbian rights and homosexual couples still face opposition from the Federal Government by being denied the right to a marriage. Same sex marriages should be constitutionalized. To the latter group of people, lesbians and homosexuals should have similar civil rights, including marrying anybody. For many decaes same sex marriage have been one of the leading political topics in the United States. Forexample, during World War II brought many different social and political changes to the United States of America. One of the major changes was the discovery of homosexuality (Same Sex Marraige). In the article, "Same Sex Marriage", stated that homosexuality used to be considered a mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association until 1973. According to an article by Elizabeth Ahlin, in 2000 an amendment passed in the state of Nebraska did not allowed same sex marriage and there was no campaign against this. she Stated that the financial benefits received from a marriage appeal to same sex couples. Elizabeth Ahlin also claimed that there was other benefits that married heterosexual couples receive, but homosexual couples do not. She meantioned that "One benefit is that a spouse may be representative of the other spouse if he or she is unable to speak for his or herself. For example, if a woman was in a terrible car accident and placed on life-support, her husband has the right to decide whether or not she should stay on life-support". Thus, the husband possesses the power of deciding when to end his wife’s life while consequently putting his spouse out of her misery (same sex marriage).
