Introduction During the past year, Holcim has been monitering the safety violation reports of all the cement trucks that have been delivering their products from plant to plant. Every end of the month they give back feedback reports about the drivers to the respective truck couriers they partner with, this includes the overall count of all the violations their trucks have committed such as driver association violations, driving period violation, excessive idling, excessive overspeedig, harsh acceleration, harsh breaking, over speeding, resting period violation, working period violation. Holcim gives emphasis on drivers who have committed the most number of violations every month in order for the truck couriers to be aware of the way the drivers
Description of Institution Holcim is the leading cement company in the Philippines, having 4 cement plant and 2 ready-mix concrete plants in the Philippines. Holcim produces 6.5 mio MT of clinker and 7.7 mio MT of cement per year. Holcim has a workforce of over 1,700 employees all over the Philippines. These drivers are usually travelling in highways and highly populated areas wherein they would encounter lots of other vehicles. The drivers low scores on the ability to asses other peoples actions and ability to handle his emotions showed to coincide with how they handle how they drive since emotional intelligence is concerned on how a person notices, pays attention, thinks and acts on their feelings (duPreez, 2012). The driver's record of multiple counts of harsh acceleration and harsh breaking shows that the driver fits the result of having low appraisal of other people action. The driver shows to not have met the standards of James 3 levels that a driver must possess (1996-2007: 5-9), since the driver did not come up to par with the cognitive level which is the behavior of understand where in which the driving would be able to more or less predict the actions of the other drivers around him, and the sensory level because he has been warned before about his multiple violations and yet he has still not been able to lessen his violation
