Holly Forester- Miller’s ethical decision making model was chosen because it goes step by step in looking at the ethical dilemma/ issue that has occurred. It begins with stating what the ethical dilemma(s) are and what the concerns are. Second the ethical code for counselors are then addressed as to which codes may have been broken. The nature and dimensions of the dilemma make sure that the issue has been evaluated in all of it dimensions. Once the counselor has the information from the above three elements then they can think of potential courses of actions and the potential consequences of the actions that they have chosen. During their internship they have become friends. Zander has a lot of concerns ethically with the way that Tasha and their supervisor, Dr. Supervisor are acting. Tasha and Dr. Supervisor are having sexual relations. It began three months ago when Tasha helped Dr. Supervisor to set up a personal Facebook profile and helped to friend “old” clients from the previous agency that he was at. He has convinced five of his old clients to come over to the agency that he is currently at. Tasha says that they plan to get engaged at the end of the year when she has finished with her program. There are several codes that apply to this case study. Code C.2.g Impairment is a code that is being violated by Tasha with her clients. In this code the counselor is responsible for monitoring themselves for any impairment that could affect those who she is offering professional services to. Tasha has admitted that she has a substance abuse problem and she has been seen off site at a bar with her supervisor.
ACA Code of Ethics code F.3.b Sexual relationships under supervisory Relationship also applies to this case study. Under this code, the supervisor is prohibited from having romantic or sexual relationships with their supervisees. According to Code F.5.b, Tasha also has a duty to tell Dr. Supervisor that she has an impairment that could affect her job at counseling others. She also has the duty to not practice counseling until she has taken care of her
