This system can also be used at places other than hospitals, including home monitoring of patients with special needs.
The study focuses on the design of a Home-based Patient Bed Monitoring System, which is particularly applied in determining the heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, respiration sensor and Blood Oxygen Saturation (SpO2). All of these are on a single device and displays the vital status result on LCD that has an android application installed on it. The design is incorporated with different sensors that are used to determine the vital status of the patient. It is controlled by a microcontroller that processes the data from the sensors and converts the signal to the application and displays the output on the LCD.
The system is also equipped with an alarm and GSM module. If the vital status of the patient is critical, the alarm will automatically switch on and the system sends a message to the person-in-charge for the alert.
