Homeland Security The Homeland Security Committee is very important in the U.S. National Government. This committee deals with protecting our country from illegal immigration. The chairman on this committee is Thomas Carper. Carper is of the Democratic Party. The ranking minority member is Thomas Coburn. Coburn is of the Republican Party. There are multiple subcommittees under the Homeland Security. Four of them are: Parmanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI), Financial and Contracting Oversight (FCO), The Efficiency and Effectiveness of Federal Programs and the Federal Workforce (FPFW), and Emergency Management, Intergovernmental Relations and the District of Columbia (EMDC). There are many bills that this committee has proposed. One is S.2927, which is a bill to strengthen Inspector General audits and investigations by streamlining computer matching agreements. Second is S.2925, which is a bill to provide for the elimination or modification of Federal reporting requirements. Third is S.1045, which is a bill to amend title 5, U.S. Code, to provide that persons having seriously delinquent tax debts shall be ineligible for Federal employment
Parker 2 Claire McCaskill was born on July 24, 1953 in Rolla, Missouri. She is the daughter of William Young McCaskill and Betty Anne. Her father served as state Insurance Commissioner and her mother was the first woman elected to the City Council. Claire was a very busy woman all through high school and college. After law school, she stayed busy in private practice as an attorney at the firm of a Kansas City trial lawyer. In 1982, McCaskill was elected to represent Kansas City in the Missouri House of Representatives. In 1990, McCaskill was elected to the Jackson County Legislature. She has held all of these positions and many more. She is a member of the Democratic Party who serves as the senior U.S. Senator from Missouri. She is the first woman
