Claire Connor McCaskill, the American politician and member of the Democratic Party, was born on July 24, 1953. After defeating Republican opponent Jim Talent, she was elected as the first women U.S. Senate of Missouri by a margin of 49.6% to 47.3%. Before all of this happened, she served as Sate Auditor of Missouri for more than eight years. Before all of her great deeds, including running for Governor of Missouri in 2004, she studied and graduated from the University of Missouri and studied at Georgetown University. Even before graduating from college, McCaskill didn’t have a common lifestyle. She was born in Rolla, Missouri, had a father who served as a state Insurance Commissioner, a mother who was the first woman elected to be the City Council of Columbia, Missouri. After spending most of her childhood in Houston, Missouri, she later moved to Lebanon, and eventually to Columbia where she attended High School and was a cheerleader, Pep Club president, and a member of the debate club. This already showed what type of woman she would be when she grew up – a leader. After graduating from high school, she stayed in Columbia where she received her Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science, and also received her Juris Doctor from the University Of Missouri School Of Law a few years later. After college, Claire started to work as a research attorney for the Court of Appeals, being one of the very few females prosecuting criminal cases as an assistant prosecutor in the Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. She spent a few years in the court room and soon specialized in arson prosecution. She then served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 1983 to 1988.
