Introduction
According to Klein (2005), local problems refer to the issues that impact on the society either positively or negatively. Klein (2005) provides that local issues often impact negatively on one group of individuals while at the same time impacting positively on another group of individuals on the society. Local problems affect a small group of individuals that are characterized by the same aspects such as culture and area of residence. For instance, local problem may affect people in the same city or people in the same country that share a common culture. Examples of local problems …show more content…
include divorces, homelessness, corruption and bullying among other problems. In most incidences, local problems result from the failure of specific individuals to carry out their responsibilities in the society. For instance, corruption arises in an incidence whereby those who hold senior positions in the society fail to use voluntary good code of conduct and ethical practices in the course of practicing their authority. Still, local problems may arise from the culture of the society. For instance, bullying may arise in a culture whereby the society appreciates some group of individuals to be more superior to others. For instance, there are some cultures of some societies which recognize men to be more superior to women and hence this sees men bully women following the superiority given to them by the society. Klein (2005) provides that local problems are dependent on each other in that some local problems trigger the occurrence of other local problems. For instance, domestic violence may trigger the occurrence of divorce and homelessness especially to the children. Since domestic violence, divorce and homelessness are all local problems, then it is justifiable to conclude that local problems are dependent on each other in that one local problem can trigger the occurrence of another local problem.
Klein (2005) provides that anything that results to suffering of individuals in the society either physically or even psychologically can be classified as a local problem. Klein (2005) also provides that any issue that hinders the development of the society in either perspective can be classified as a local problem. Such development perspectives may include development under in economic perspective, development in social and even democratic perspective among other perspectives. Klein (2005) provides that most of the local problems can be solved by applying ethical practices, moral reasoning and voluntary good code of conduct by each in the society.
