Persuasive Essay Since there are many feelings in between, the debate of gay rights becomes more complex each year. Many people feel that homosexuality is wrong and want to prohibit it. While others beleave that everyone has the right to choose who they want to be and how they want to live. The main topics of debate are whether or not homosexuals should marry, be accepted in society, and adopt children. Me, personally,am against homosexuality. i believe it is wrong because I was raised by parents who have always believed that marriage should be between a man and a woman, and men should only be atracted by woman, and viseversal. The side i agree with is the one against same-sex marriage, same-sex couples adopting, and homosexuals accepted in society. Fifty percent of the marriages end up on a divorce. This means that nonserious marriages are already happening in between men and woman. If same-sex marriages were accepted in more states, the number of nonserous marriages would increase. Friends of the same sex will pretend being homosexuals to marry and save money on taxes. Marriage has been a sacred institution that unites a man and a woman for the past two milleniums.Same-sex marriage had not been allowed for one reason, pro-creation. If a man could pro-create with another man, homosexuality would be acceoted by society and would not be a sin. As noted in the "New Translation of the Holy Scriptures, 1 Corinthians 6:9, "What! Do you not know that the unrightious persons will not inherit God's kingdom? Neither fornicatiors, nor idolatiors, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unatural purposes, nor men who will lie with them". This text explains that a men who lies with another men is as sinfull as an adulterer, or a fornicator. There are other texts, such as Leviticus 18:22-24 and 20:13, that talk more about relationships of men with men, or woman with woman. These are the reasons why I disagree with gay rights and future gay rights. Other than these reasons, I disagree because after marriage, they will want a family, passing their problems with society to the children. By adopting, homosexuals will pass the problems they have to deal on the everyday basis. Same-sex parents can only bring problems to the children, such as the kid being bullied in school. Children can be so cruel, especially when they notice that a kid is unusual, like having same-sex parents. Along with the problems in school, children will have psycological issues. Children without a mother, meaning being adopted by two men, suffer from lack of security ans advice that only a mother can bring. According to the American Sociological Review of April 2001, children are more likely to engage on homosexual behavior when raised by same-sex parents. It is also reported that girls,living apart from a father and raised by same-sex parents, are at a higher risk of early sexual activity and/or pregnancy.According to the book "Growing up in a Lesbian Family: Effects on Children Development", from 1997, Fiona Tasker and Susan Golombok observed that twenty-five percent of the children raised by same-sex parents are in homorotic relationships, while zero percent, raised by heterosexual mothers, are not in such relationship. This form of live causes psycological problems, but also physical problems. when society is strongly against something, they will try anything to stop it. It seems as if society was scared of new ideas. The first action people take against something new and that they do not approve, is always violent. According to the FBI hate crimes statistics, there were 6,604 hate crimes reported in 2009. Eighteen percent of those hate crimes were based on sexual orientation. In 1987, a research reported that seventy-five percent of Americans thought homosexuality was "always wrong". Twenty-three years later, 2010, only fourty percent felt that way. People do not want their children and workplace to accept such beliefs that could cause damage. They fear that their children will accept homosexual behavior, and later see it as a natural thing. Even though homosexuality is considered unacceptable by all religions in the world, some people do not think that way. The other side of the controversary protest for marriage between same-sex couples to be allowed in more states, adoption, acceptance, and other rights for homosexuals. In the U.S., there are more than 100,000 children waiting for adoption. Marriage between same-sex couples ease the chance to adopt one of these 100,000 children. The people that are not against homosexuality argue that marriage of same-sex couples doen not hurt an individual, nor society. Also, that it already is an accepted livestyle and a normal part of nature. Denying the right of same-sex couples is a violation of their freedom. If acceptance of marriage between same-sex couples in more states, later, people will want to have more than one wives, or even marry an animal. As noted before, asoption of children can cause physical and emotional problems that can last a lifetime. Also, homosexuality hurts individuals as well as the society. By accepting homosexuality, children will be confused about the expectations of society and gender roles. It is reported that the homosexual lifestyle is unhealthier, and researches show that they tend to smoke and drink more that other groups of people.In my own opinion, they are too liberal. Acording to the online dictionary, "Dictionary.com", liberal means being in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible. In other words, homosexuals seek theur individualism and expect freedom for everything. After reading my position and reasons, it might seem a little cruel, but I only seek for the safety of the children from now, and the future. What kind of world could be offered to our children where everyone does as they please? It would be as if there were no laws to stop violation and crimes. The actions that should be taken should be that the government does not legalize more homosexual rights or allow same-sex marriage in more states. Only one man and one woman, together, can pro-create.
