There are people that will say homosexuals shouldn’t have adoption rights. Some however disagree and think that homosexuals should have equal adoption rights. Those who disagree say that homosexuals cannot provide a stable household. Those homosexuals’ children are more likely to be homosexuals themselves. They say that’s it is an unnatural upbringing for a child. Right now there are only 10 states that expressly allow homosexual adoption rights. Others believe that these statements are wrong, and that homosexuals in all states should allow homosexual adoption rights. Homosexual rights have always been a huge controversial issue in the United States. Whether it is to allow them to get married, fight in the war, or adopt children, there have always been controversial issues. People are either okay with homosexuality, or others are just simply not. The people who are not either are not because of their beliefs, upbringing, or the simple fact that it is just not a social norm. I chose to argue this topic because I have firm belief in the fact of equal rights for homosexuals. I specifically however chose to argue adoption rights because in my family there is a gay couple who last year adopted a little girl from Africa. This process for them was very tiring and it took them about three years to find an agency to help them out with adopting a child. Knowing them, and how badly they wanted to have a child, and having the process be so long devastated them. I knew that they would be awesome dads because they used to babysit me and my sister when we were younger, and they always had fun with us. Homosexuals are no different from you and me, just because it’s not the typical man and women does not mean that they cannot do the same things as us.
