The author believed that we have to work hard and not give up we just can't and that's what made him hope for the best. Even though on line 18 where the author states “A place of evil and fear”, is what they live in. He didn't give up even when he states he lives in a place of evil and fear. On line 23 is say, “Yet we all hope time will come when we’ll go home again.” Mostly everyone in the concentration had hope that they would soon leave that horrible place filled with nothing but fear and evil.
