I feel that this is so important. I also feel that my host teacher tries to fix problems rather than fix her students; she tries to find the good in every student even if they drive her nuts. It is important to teach students that they are good in different ways; this helps make for a better learning environment. As my host teacher made the effort to get to know her students, she was able to praise or connect with her students on that level when they were having a difficult day. By knowing your students and have conversations about those interests helps make the students feel good and feel like the teacher cares about them. My host uses a form of the “thank you” method by thanking students for being on task when asked, helping other students, and for doing the agenda on the board every morning. By thanking students for good behaviors or having the students clip down on the behavior chart, I believe that my host teacher has had a decrease in bad behaviors. Overall, I have noticed her effort to find good in the different students even on the days where it was very hard to do.
Some questions that came to my mind when I was reflecting and observing how to find the good in every child were the following. What are some ways to find good in every child? How to you be proactive with a student who consistently acts out? I know it is easier to find the bad things about students over the good things, what are some techniques
