How 9/11 Affected My Life

I was born in 2000. A year after I was born, 9/11 happened, and it was such a major event in our history that it changed the way we live today. Other major events that impacted my classmates and I as we grew up included: school shootings, terrorism, the Joplin Tornado, and other natural disasters, like Hurricane Harvey. School shootings have changed the way schools do lock downs. Schools are more prepared for them due to the fact that they have happened in the past. Terrorism has also affected the way we live, because of the fact that it happens so often around the world. The Joplin Tornado really affected those that lived in Missouri. I lived fairly close to Joplin when the tornado hit, and it changed a lot of people's lives.
Father's role in childrearing is slowly becoming more equal to the roles of mothers, but most mothers still do more when it comes to childrearing. Most people are accepting of people of other ethnic groups, but they are also very cautious and guarded around them. Now days, I think most people show respect for senior citizens, but there are some people that are very disrespectful to their elders. I don't think people really care now day about whether or not couples have children. It is their own personal choice, but I think if people know someone that want kids that can't, they feel very sympathetic for them. The good thing though is that those couple that can't have kids have more options now days. People view birth control as something that is pretty common now days, and cell phones are viewed as a necessity. Everyone has them, and it has made communication and other things very easy now
Some mothers did and some didn't, but it was more common back then to be a stay at home mom. My mom told me that the father's role in childrearing has changed quite a bit. Back then, fathers didn't change diapers or work around the house as much as they do now, and they definitely didn't do as much as the mothers would. When my parents were kids, people acted similar to how people do now when it comes to people of other ethnic groups. They were accepting of them, but they were also a little guarded. In the past, everyone always respected their elders, and peoples view of couples without children hasn't changed much from when my parents were younger. The only thing is that if couples wanted kids but couldn't have them, then they didn't have very many options about what they could do. Birth control was a lot less common back then, and those who used birth control were more secretive about it compared to now, and lastly, cell phones did not exist back when my parents were growing up, so it was a lot harder to communicate with others.
The issue of cohort effects in development effects research because people of the same cohort are around the same age, and they experience the same historical events, but those of another cohort experience other historical events. These events that they experience change the way they see the world a little, and it changes the way people
