My father introduced me to the sport when I was very young and it has stuck with me ever since. Playing years and years of basketball has not only improved my game drastically, but it’s also affected my life in ways that I never thought was possible. Going into it, I knew it would be a challenge, but I thought it was a good and reasonable goal to set. A couple friends in the grade above me had done it and I knew I was fully capable of doing the same. I had a lot of confidence going into my junior year that I would make the varsity cut. I tried my absolute best in everything we did in practice. Whether it was a workout, a drill or a scrimmage I was always working as hard as I could and my teammates knew it. As the days went on and the practices continued to get harder, It was tough for me to keep my head up and stay motivated. Finally, after months of hard work, the coaches acknowledged my effort. The day came around and I was more nervous than I had ever been. For the last eight months, I had done everything in my power to prove to the coaches that I was ready for varsity level
