African slave were brought over because of the extensive knowledge of farming they have, along with their resistance to tropical disease and just the over all hard work that they did in mines or on plantations. Portugal was responsible for the transporting of 4.5 million African slaves.
The transporting of slave to the Americas formed a triangular trade route called the middle passage. The way it worked was Europe would trade with Africa for slaves,then the slaves would be shipped to America where they would work to produce things like: cotton , sugar , tobacco and rum. From there the goods would be transported back to Europe and the cycle starts again.

life of a slave was a harsh and unforgiving life. When they first would get there they would be auctioned off to the one who paid the most. Once sold they were either sent off to work in the fields , mines or domestic servants. They live in small dreary huts and usually survived on little food. They would work long days and suffer beatings
Like anything , African slave trade came with some consequences.
In Africa many cultures lost their best members to the plantation owners. Along with that, families were torn apart most likely to never see eachother again. It also devastated African society in other ways: by introducing guns into the continent.
The American colonies was were greatly affected by the African slaves. They affected their economic and cultural but their greatest contribution is their labor. The slaves practically built and helped keep haiti and barbados alive. When the slaves were brought over they also brought with them their agricultural knowledge along with their art , music , religion , and food.
The period of the Atlantic world brought African slave but along with it many other changes. It started with the need of labor and they used the African people for their knowledge and resistance to tropical disease. In the end it had a big impact on both countries that are still affecting us many years
later.
