Women being able to finally vote in the 1920s had a big effect on the United States. It changed the United States and made it more democratic. Before as stated in the text “voters had been active participants in political campaigns” (pg 675). After this transformation voters were then consumers so in order for politicians to get their vote they had to appeal to them. Politicians appealed to voters by representing them and showing them how they would help the voters given they voted for them. This was differently done at this time because newspapers and radio stations that were once controlled by certain parties were now branching out (pg 675). Since these groups were branching out there was less bias meaning there was more actuate representation than before, when radio stations and newspapers were simply saying whatever the politicians wanted them to say.
