British Attack Charleston
From February 11to May 12, 1780 British LT. Henry Clinton attacked and captured
Charleston, SC so Britain’s attack strategy to end the American revolution would have a higher chance of working.

After the British colonies failed to control the Northern colonies they created a strategy to control the southern colonies in hopes of all colonies following their example. For this strategy to work they need to take over Charleston. LT. Henry Clinton was assigned to take over Charleston. Gen. Benjamin Lincoln was the leader of the defense system in Charleston.

Henry Clinton failed the first time when he tried to attack Charleston. After Henry Clinton failed he vowed to capture Charleston for Britain. Clinton’s army landed
