How Did Christopher Columbus Successful

From our earliest school days we have been aware of Christopher Columbus and of how he found the Americas; however what else is known about the voyage? Has a deeper perspective been taken on the subject? Consider what influenced him to travel, what led him to being able to explore, how did he win over the support of those who financed his voyages, or even what else he accomplished while he was venturing. For no reason in particular teachers have left out key details as mentioned previously, after extensive research these questions are answered. As a child, born to a wool merchant family, his focus was to always be a navigator on the open water and to discover new land and new ideas. By his teenage years, 14, Columbus worked on a ship, fulfilling step one, to achieve his long term dream of becoming a navigator. Although ecstatic about his teenage opportunities and about every new skill he learned, he still searched for better opportunities. After a shipwreck - a ship he happened to be working on- he ended up in Lisbon, Portugal and there furthered his education by studying navigation, mathematics, and astronomy. However Columbus chose to be recognized as a Spaniard as when he sailed to explore new parts of earth. Which means although technically he is Italian, he decided to change how he is identified. Therefore, Columbus identifying to Spain gave Spain a reason to support his voyages. As he traveled he came upon new lands, treasures, foods, governments, and people who he could take back to Spain and Italy.
