Confucianism and the influence of Confucianism in imperial rule
During 5000 years history of China, Chinese people use their diligence and wisdom to create many wonderful things that spread thousand years until now. Like Confucianism, since Spring and Autumn period, Confucianism has been created by Confucius to educate people on their behavior and morality. And it has a big influence on the imperial rule. The concept of Confucianism and the history of the development of Confucianism clearly demonstrate how Confucianism influenced imperial rule.

According to the lecture by professor Shuang, Chen (2016). It first appeared in Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, when the society is facing a problem that Zhou Royal family declined and vassal states have strong national strength. The powerful feudal rulers struggle for power, the whole society was in a mess. The old slavery system needed to be abandoned, society faces enormous transformation. At this time, Confucius, the founder of Confucianism, hoping to restore the complex ritual order of the various social classes. The main ideas of Confucianism are Ren, Li, Xiao, the idea of Confucianism is very extensive and it almost concludes every aspect of social life. After Confucius, Mencius and Xunzi also carry forward some new connotation of Ren and Confucianism. However, the development of Confucianism is not smooth. According to the lecture and book, at the time of Qin Dynasty, Qin Shihuang has burned many important materials about Confucianism and buried the Confucian scholars alive. In the book “Mountain of fame: Portraits in Chinese history”, it said “In the later Chinese tradition, this incident has become the most famous of the bad examples of Qin.The “burning of the books”has come to stand both for repression of principled dissent and for impiety toward the past, and the rapid collapse of Qin has been taken to prove that no government that behaves in this way can expect to endure. ”(p.48) Confucianism suffered a big blow in this dynasty. But, Qin Dynasty didn’t exist too long. Because of the tyranny of Qin Shihuang and the strict rules he used, Qin dynasty was overthrown by the oppressed people at its second emperor. After that, Confucianism becomes to the orthodox idea at Han Dynasty, in order to help the emperor to control the empire and maintain the stability of society, Dong Zhongshu absorbed some good part of Taoist and Legalists to improve Confucianism.
