The Spirit of Christmas Past showed Ebenezer the significance of spiritual values instead of material ones. The spirit was androgynous, young yet elderly, wearing a robe as white as a dove. What frightened Scrooge the most about the phantom was that he did not speak, and only showed Scrooge his dreadful future. Scrooge observed a man had just died recently and did not comprehend who had died. When he realized, it was him, Scrooge noticed people stealing his possessions as he was lying dead. Scrooge begged the spirit to give him a second chance because he has learned the importance of valuing humankind over money. As he pleaded, the spirit disappeared and Scrooge was back in his room. It was Christmas morning and he was relieved to still be alive. He wanted to bring the joy of Christmas to everyone he had offended.
