I believe this because the allied countries had already implemented this treaty on Germany which took their land in Europe and overseas and also limited their army to 100,000 men and banning their submarine fleets in fear of them rebuilding their army to a massive size. The difficulty for a country to bounce back from a war and attempt to defend themselves with only 100,000 men is simply impossible. If Great Britain or France were to come back at them after putting this limitation on they would take Germany down without a problem. Germany of course would not follow this rule and would eventually build up past 100,000 men due to Hitler’s persuasive and manipulating ways. The allies could have stopped there, but they felt they needed to add more insult to injury so they piled on the war reparations. The Germans might have found the war reparations objectionable because they weren’t the only country causing all the destruction. The allied countries of France, Belgium, Poland, and Serbia caused destruction to the land. Since the damage was not done solely by Germany they could have felt it was unfair to them by slamming all the reparations on them. The cost of the war reparations came out to be 132 billion gold marks or about $33 billion US
