During this time WW2 also took place. I watched in agony as innocent Germans and others alike were massacred. With each death a part of me was lost that could never again be recovered. Up until this point I had already been facing the consequences of losing WW1 which included a ruined economy, pieces of my land being given to other countries, resentment from my people towards people of other nationalities and resentfulness from them towards my people which had led to an overall depressing atmosphere. The Second World War caused a multiplier effect of these situations where conflict, inequality and suffering became even more widespread. For example, the other countries now realized that the Treaty of Versailles which was placed upon me after WW1 was what caused Adolf Hitler’s rise to power. Therefore the restriction s that had been forced upon me were removed. I no longer had to limit my army to 100,000, give away 10% of land to other countries or lose all trade. Losing trade had been a massive drain on my economy. So, whilst it was obviously an awful war, I may not be where I am now without
