President Kennedys lack of trust in his own life hurt the Americans peoples trust in him. Bill O’Reilly writes “It was no secret that JFK was far from monogamous. JFK explains to a friend that he needs to have sex once a day or he gets terrible headaches… But not always with the first lady.” (O’Reilly pg.37) Kennedys lack of faith in marriage, a holy and scared commitment, hurt Americans trust in him. If his celebrity of a wife cannot trust him how can we. Jackie Kennedy, a loved member of the American society, received sympathy from the American peoples hurting their opinion of the President. Kennedy’s marriage hurt Americans trust in him but his in house mistrust hurt him more. JFK installed the taping systems because of being angry with his advisors; this shows the distrust in the white house, which also causes us to not trust fully. (Connors Web.) The fact that Kennedy could not even trust his cabinet made us realize we cannot trust them either. Kennedy, a supposed role model to the American people set the example for mistrust in our Society. JFK did not just hurt the trust with his personal life but he also did so with his lack of economic follow up hurt as well. Kennedy made many promises throughout his presidency about unemployment and economic reforms. The Unemployment rate remained the previous high it had hit through out his political life. (Connors Web.) JFK made promises to help the unemployment rate but instead it rose and remained at the previous high. His inability to follow through on his promise for improvement hurt our trust in the government taking care of us.
