In the 1920s, John Logie was the first person to create a working television (History.com). Before he decided to start inventing the television, he experienced many problems with money and equipment. After the release of the television, it started changing the way society worked by widening the amount of people who were able to watch. The use of the television during those times were quite complicated to how they are now from the lack of resources during those times. Although an image was shown, it does not have the same quality as today and has been improving over time.
John Logie Baird is born on August 14th, 1888 in Helens burgh Scotland (BBC News). He studied at the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College which was disturbed by the war. He was rejected because his health conditions were poor and was unfit for the forces. He was then given the position of superintendent engineer of the Clyde Valley Electrical Power Company. After the war ended, he decided to start a business which both helped and did not help him.
Baird then moved to the south Coast of England to create a television which many scientist hoped to achieve. (BBC News). When John Logie Bard moved to England to try to create the first television, the equipment he used were …show more content…
items used in his other inventions. By the end of 1954 he managed to transfer a flickering image across to another side of a room. On January 26th, 1926, he presented the world’s first television in front of 50 scientists in the attic of central London (history.com). In 1927 he demonstrated his television over a telephone line between London and Glasgow and started the Baird Television Development Company also known as BTDC. In 1928 he accomplished the first television broadcast between London and New York (history.com).
Although he was able to invent the television, he also went through many problems along the way. Before he started creating the television, he did not have much money and only had different parts used for his other inventions. During his first test, he managed to make an image appear but the image was not clear. He moved to London to have access to better items and as he started to improve, he had another problem which was without tones, he was unable to identify a face. John had another person who helped him but started to get impatient because of the lack of improving results.
Baird sketched a device that he thought would be used to create an image that could be sent using radio waves. He started by using a disk which had a spiral of holes that were spaced perfectly that was powered by an electric motor. The motor spun the disk in front of an image. Each of the holes in the spirals allowed a small part of an image to go through. Then a light sensor pics up the small images and converts them into electrical pulses. These pulses would be transmitted into radio waves to another device. (Discovery)
The television changed the society because it enabled a new way of spreading information to different places.
In 1922 The British Broadcasting Corporation otherwise known as BBC sent out experimental transmissions which the BTDC had to pay for, but after that, BBC started to use the system in 1932 (John Logie Baird Biography). His Invention changed many places and the world because it started to connect them and give information in an easier way. It was also used as entertainment instead of having to go to the cinemas or listening to a radio. The systems used today are different to John Logie Baird’s system, but from him proving that televisions are possible, he was able to change the world. (BBC News

The television connects to the key concept because it changed the way people started living and finding information and news. It also connects to the related concept because it started a new revolution instead of listening to the radio, it connected many places. It also relates to innovation because it is a new idea that helped make more people aware that there are televisions. Scarcity is also shown because the resources were limited which made it harder for him to create a good quality television. It relates to the global concept because it changed the world during that period which is part of time and place.
Overall, John Logie Baird made an impact to everyone by showing that people are able to create televisions. His invention helped to change how we are living now and gave us more ideas on how to improve on his invention. His invention was mainly connected to the key concept because it changed the world and connected more people together. He was able to make a design that worked and shared it to people from other countries which allowed more people to try and make better changes for the television
