Roots: How Kunta Kinte Embodies the Early Explorers Era Kunta Kinte is a representation of the Early Explorers Era. Kunta was a Mandinka warrior for his village in Africa. During this time, people were extremely loyal to their homeland by keeping it's traditions and were active participants in their religion and would keep their faith, no matter where they went. Kunta was originally from Africa and got captured and got put onto a boat by slave traders and brought to America, ultimately achieving the American dream of the time, exploration.
