hostility of power to concentrations of power which threatens the freedom of the individual preventing him from realizing his ultimate potentials, along with a willingness to cross examine and reform social institutions during light of new needs. This type of willingness is affected by a strong sudden need to change, which is what distinguishes the liberal from the radical. It is considered eagerness to suddenly welcome and encourage useful change and ideas however, that differentiates the conservatives from the liberals, which believes that change is at least more likely to result in loss as in gain. liberal ideas were not noticeable in European politics/government until during the early 16th century, liberalism has a substantial prehistory which has dated back to the Middle Ages as well as earlier. during the Middle Ages the rights and responsibilities for individuals were determined by his position in a hierarchical social order that placed great stress upon acceptance and conformity. The aspirations of national rulers and the requirements of increasing industries and commerce had led gradually to the adoption for economic policies based on the beliefs of profitable trading, there's a school of thought that advocated governments intercession in a country’s economy in increasing states wealth and powers. As such interventions increasingly created interests and inhibited enterprise, it was later challenged newly emerging middle class which wee members. This challenge was a huge factor during the great revolutions that rocked both France and England both the 17th and 18th centuries equally. The most notably the English Civil wars of 1642 to 1651, as well as the glorious resolution 1688, the American resolution in1775 and the French resolution 1978.
