We see so many times in history, that some things just don’t go well. There are so many failures that occur in history. There need to be failures in order to succeed in the end. Some political parties in the mid-1850s were failing. They weren't getting the support from the people that they wanted. The Whigs split up and then the Know-Nothing party was made. After them, the republican and democratic party grew more. Then the Free-Soil party came in as well. No matter what, these groups all had to be involved with another whether they helped or hurt each other. Even of the parties did absolutely nothing for the people and they didn't last very long, the still affected things. The Free-Soil party really affected some people's thoughts on slavery and what it has been and what it should be. Though there were so many parties that were getting involved, the north and the south were also very conflicting to each other. In the end, though, the Republican party and the Know-Nothing parties were the 2 main ones that were in competition in the end. But both of these groups at some point were at a low, then were boosted up when there were other groups falling
