The first reason that causes me to believe this is that The Boston Tea Party lead to the Intolerable Acts. The Intolerable Acts was a set of acts that were made to punish colonists. This lead to colonists getting angrier, they disliked the way they were being punished. This caused colonists to rebel against their own government. The second reason that causes me to believe this is that the colonists rebelled against their own government and started the violent parts of the Revolution by attacking tax collectors and setting fire to many buildings. It shut down, not only because it started to smell but because the British wanted all 342 chests, which was equal to 90,000 pounds, of tea to be paid for and all trade was cut off from the colonies.
For those reasons I feel that the one event that had the most significant role in causing the American Revolution was the Boston Tea
