The Roman Empire was known as one of the greatest empires in history. As Rome grew, they started to fall apart and eventually would fall completely. Rome’s political, economical, disease, and foreign invader problems took great parts in the fall of the Western Roman Empire. These four issues were best known to cause Rome’s demise.
There were many reasons for the Roman Empire fall. Political problems were one of the reasons. Some of the political problems were that most of the emperors were greedy and only wanted power for themselves. These emperors, most of the time gave Rome what they wanted, but were still cruel and full of themselves. Some great leaders of Rome included Julius Caesar and Nero. Both of these men gave Rome what they wanted, but Julius Caesar was assassinated by his own men and Nero committed suicide because he was being haunted by his mother. Within these times, there were many wars over the emperors and their power. Some of the time, other leaders would pay the Praetorian Guard to assassinate the current emperor so that they could take the throne for themselves. Within the economy at the time there was inflation, this is when costs go up while value goes down. This still happens today. At this time, imported goods were taxed, this was called tariffs. Pirates were beginning to become a big deal. Pirates were known to steal goods and take over ships out on the Mediterranean Sea. Ancient Rome’s currency was running low and they started to produce less of coins, this made the currency more valuable at the time.
