After fighting in the French and Indian war, England was in a major debt. England was desperate to climb out of the debt and sought parliament for help. Parliament then decided to created a few acts in order to help England find a way out of debt. They created the Sugar Act in 1763 . This act imposed taxes on sugar imported into the colonies; it also included some wines, coffee and in regulated the exports of lumber and iron. Since many colonists were refusing to pay the new taxes and move back to the east, England was forced to send troops to New England. Again this made it even more crowded in New England. People were angered by the fact that soldiers were walking around monitoring everything they did. The colonists didn’t like having these soldiers walking around and began to cause mischief; eventually leading to the Boston massacre.
The Boston massacre took place on March 5, 1770 . It was a street fight between angry colonists and a group of English soldiers. The colonists were angry and looking to make trouble, they threw snowballs and continued to anger the English men.
