The second Sino-Japanese War weakened the inner mechanisms of the KMT so far that by the time 1945 came around it was strategically disadvantaged and vulnerable to the CCP. The Sino-Japanese War was a war between the Japan and China this started from July 7th 1937 – September 9th 1945. This led to a full-blown war, japan then ended the war by surrendering. When Japan attacked china people’s army and KMT they decided to discard their bad blood and that they had between them and agreed to fight the Japanese. This was really beneficial for the KMT and the communist because the strategies really help them win the war. General Joseph Sitwel pointed out that they are invading meaning that they need to send troops so to beat japan all China has to do is stall. He called this “winning by out lasting” This helped both the morale of the citizens and the army. He also suggest tactics like baiting Japanese troops to a certain points and flanking or ambushing them. This technique worked really well because flanking and ambushing does not take a lot of troops so there is a low risk. Though this can make the KMT look bad by having a foreigner to do their job for them, this made them strong to admit that they needed help. A good example of this tactics to use is the defence of Changsha in 1939 in which there were many casualties for the Japanese.
