the Germaniac on the western side because the military was on the east side spreading more. “At its height, the Roman Empire stretched from the Atlantic Ocean all the way to the Euphrates River in the Middle East, but its grandeur may have also been its downfall.” (History Alive) The Roman Empire expanded so quickly that after the military left one place people would attack or there would be an uprise. The military was too far away to do anything so they just hoped it would resolve itself. Therefore social was a big impact but there was also other reasons such as political. Another big reason for the rise and fall of the Roman empire was the political aspect. “Civil war thrust the empire into chaos, and more than 20 men took the throne in the span of only 75 years, usually after the murder of their predecessor.” (HIstory Alive) The becoming of rule became a death sentence because if someone else wanted to be ruler instead of them switching peacefully they killed you. This corrupted the government. This put everyone in chaos because you would just get a ruler and understand what they were doing and then they would be killed. This also if a ruler was in power for to long they became greedy and more chaos was created because many people tried to overthrow them. Also, “As the situation worsened, civic pride waned and many Roman citizens lost trust in their leadership.” (HIstory Alive) The chaos of the politicians then brought chaos to the citizens. The people stopped listening to the government because they had so many different opinions in rulers in such a long time. The people created uprises to rebel because they knew the government was weak. This is not the only other reason though economical is also a big reason. Lastly economics was a huge reason for the uprise and fall.
“The Republic needed money to pay the legions, to build roads, sewers, aqueducts, and arenas, and to pay for the welfare programs that fed the poor.” (Rome for kids) Rome was made up of 95% plebeians which we middle class and low class people. The other 5% was patricians who were high class and told people what to do. Plebeians are the ones who pay taxes to fund things and pay for the huge military. The plebeians also go to the military no option so when they went to war no one could pay taxes making the city itself and all the people go into poverty. Also, “As more and more funds were funneled into the military upkeep of the empire, technological advancement slowed and Rome’s civil infrastructure fell into disrepair.” (History Alive) Rome started to gain land so quickly that it affected how the people advanced. The people started to not learn anything and just do there jobs. No one enjoyed their jobs anymore because they used to learn something new everyday but after gaining so much land the advancement in technology declined by so much. Therefore that is the last reason for the rise and fall of the Roman
Empire. Therefore the cause of the roman empire was because of the social, political and economical issues. The Roman Empire rose and fell in only 507 years. That may seem like a lot but a normal empire lasts for over 1000 years. “The Holy Roman Empire is neither Holy, nor Roman, nor an Empire.”
