People from Europe started coming to North America/the 13 colonies for many reasons. The 13 colonies included Delaware, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, and Rhode Island. People from Europe settled here because they could make a lot of money. They could make this money by farming, working with iron, and shipbuilding. They also got rewards for doing these tasks. For example, on document 2, the advertisement said, “Offering most excellent fruites by planting in Virginia.” This means they would be rewarded with fruits for doing this work.…
The development of the English colonies in the New World was influenced by geography. Although the geography affected the regions where the settlers would colonize, it was not the motivating factor in moving to America for everyone. The ports that were easily accessible determined where larger cities would be formed. The religious groups from England migrated over for religious freedom, and geography did not affect where they would colonize. In the southern regions of the east coast, farming was the main occupation, and the geography of that area profoundly affected the crops. In America, geography guided the development of the colonies.…
The United States of America can trace it’s roots back to the English. They were frustrated with over-population, poverty, or lack of freedom of religion. In the early 1600s, England sent groups of settlers to the “New World” to establish permanent colonies. They founded the Virginia Colony and the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Although the two first colonies of America were similar, they also had very distinct differences.…
Let’s start off with New England, New England’s Harsh rocky soil made farming difficult, led to subsistence farms. New England’s Land was also granted to a group and towns were subdivided among families. New England also had Fishing including whaling. New England had Shipbuilding and small-scale factories. New England includes Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire.…
During the seventh century, Europeans established colonies in North America. The English colonies were originally established because proprietors from England were granted charters to settle and govern lands. Other European colonies were established around trading posts. Over time, the English gained control of the thirteen colonies through force or purchase; eventually, by regions were known as the Southern, Middle and New England colonies. Although the colonies were under the control of the English and had many commonalities, each region created a distinct culture. These similarities and differences can be evidenced when comparing the role of African Americans, a role of women, and types of settlers of the Middle colonies and The Southern…
In early America there were several colonies but the ones that stood out the most were the New England Colonies and the Virginia colony. There were many differences, for example, New England colonies were full of families while the Virginia colony was mostly dominated by males. They mostly had differences and had few things in common.…
13 Original Colonies. Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts Bay Colony, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia. Out of these 13, Virginia, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania stood out to me the most. Even though these three colonies have differences based on how they started, who governed them, and how they were governed, they still have many similarities.…
The 13 Colonies were all on the eastern coast near the water and were all settled for different reasons.…
Throughout the 1600’s and 1700’s, the American colonies grew larger and larger, becoming more than just small settlements, into large self sufficient territories. Originally the colonies were supposed to be settlements to find gold and raw materials, but they eventually became the beginnings of the colonies that would start the United States. As they developed most colonies relied on agriculture and certain crops and trading to have an economical balance. For example, colonies like Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina relied heavily on the production of tobacco and rice to trade and sell with England for an income. With tobacco becoming a staple in europe and being highly desired, the need for more crops grew.…
The original thirteen colonies, from groundbreaking Virginia, first settled in 1612, to the bountiful Carolinas originating in the year of 1670. In 1636, twenty four years after the formation of Virginia, the revolutionary Rhode Island came to be. Though settled three-hundred and seventy-six years ago, Rhode Island at that time, still holds similarities to what it means to be “American” today. America is synonymous with freedom, tolerance of those different, equality, and democracy. Rhode Island can be considered the most American of all thirteen original colonies, because it supported separatist government, practiced religious tolerance, and had a democracy from the start.…

Jefferson was the reason why the westward expansion started. Lewis and clark were wanting to start a journey to the western side. Lewis couldn't do it alone so he asked clark come alone with him on the journey. So he did they had some hard times it wasn't so easy as they though. Lewis brought him alone so he could get supplies for him if they ever needed them on there way over to the mississippi on the side of pacific ocean. Lewis had planned to go to the pacific but they had trouble on the way so they had some setbacks on their journey that's why it took them some time on the westward expansion late. How the mexican did not participate in westward expansion for that reason i don't know why?…
English Most colonies established by royal charter. Earliest settlements were in Virginia and Massachusetts but soon spread all along the Atlantic coast, from Maine to Georgia, and into the continent’s interior as far as the Mississippi River. Distance from England and a frugal Parliament allowed colonists to set up local governments and representative assemblies and to tax themselves, as long as they did not take up arms against the Crown.…
When the United States fist started out there were only thirteen small colonies. These colonies stretched along the east coast because it was ideal for shipping cargo back to Britain to create revenue. Today the US stretches from the Atlantic Ocean all the way to the Pacific Ocean. The United States did not just want to rule this whole territory for any reason though. The reason why expansion happened so dramatically is because of politics. The first colonies only shipped products to British controlled land to control the world economy. This made a surplus for supply and demand for items like tobacco, wheat, flour and cotton because it grew best in Northern America. Around the eighteen fifties politics needed the country to reach the Pacific Ocean not for land rights, but to control trade with Asia. They figured trade rights with Asia would help create a stronger economy for the US. They were right, last year the US made ninety billion dollars in foreign trade with Asia alone. This proves colonization of the North American region has made the country powerful through trade and recourses. (“Asia: South-South…
The southern colonies consisted of five of the first thirteen colonies, which were North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, and Virginia. Where the climate was the warmest out of the three colonial regions, which to those living there was a good thing because survival in the winter was easier for them.…
