Therefore it can be concluded that due to significant archaeological discoveries that the size of Troy is no longer an arguable point when discerning whether the Trojan War occurred or not.
C. Mycenaean Trojan Trading Relations
1. Troy and Mycenae
Troy in the 13th century was a fine city rich in gold and tradition as was the Greek
Mycenae. There have been archaeological discoveries, made through finds of pottery, in both
Mycenae and Troy which prove to be the result of trade relation between the two great cities.
(Wood, 1985). These trading relations, by judging the date of pottery found in the cities, goes back hundreds of years prior to the date of the Trojan War, which in turn proves that the great western civilization of mainland Greece knew about and had contact with Troy itself.
Interestingly enough it was proved that the trading relations between Mycenae and Troy were severed suddenly towards the beginning of 1250 B.C. Therefore, having said this, one can conclude that Mycenae were indeed familiar with the wealth and positioning of Troy, as they had
