The tremendous mountain ranges made communication outside and inside of Greece hard for the people(“Rise”). The large widespread mountains also made traveling difficult this leading to trouble with trading good. All of these factors lead up to the formation of the Polis otherwise known as city-states (“Rise”). The mountains in greece created an outline or border of Greece(“The land”). The mountains bordered Greece nearly all around providing its inhabitants with means of protection from foreign invaders. If outside invaders attempted to penetrate into Greece They would need to take a route over the high mountains of Greece(“How”). Mountains such as the Parnassus ended up being a useful in defending during wars. Having few small passage ways inside gave Greece an easy advantage in defending against foreign invaders attempts at overrunning.
