The United States Navy deployed a massive number of warships and Marine Corps before the attack in the Pearl Harbor. They had 3 aircraft-carriers, 9 battleships, 20 cruisers, 69 destroyers and 27 submarines in the Pacific fleet. The American Army, in total, had 10.5 million soldiers in service. The industry in America also made the victory of WWII possible, factories could build 40 thousand airplanes and 20 thousand tanks each year. In addition, the United States of America dominated the oil import of Japan. The Empire of Japan greatly depended on the oil import from the United States of America in order to sustain its intense struggle in China. After America posted economic sanctions and trade embargoes against the Empire of Japan, Japanese forces had little oil to run their ships. Plus, the United States of America had recovered from the Great Depression completely by the beginning of the World War Two so that it was powerful enough to run the military with millions of soldiers. Before the World War Two, the Gross Domestic Product of America had reached 200 billion dollars, while Japan’s Gross Domestic Product was only 28.3 billion dollars.
