Even though the Spanish-American war was short, it was one of the most popular in US history. The war was fought over many disagreements and territorial disputes. Spain still continued to hold onto their possession of Cuba. After Cuba began to catch on, they revolted against Spain and took the imperial power. Cuba thought that the United States would then begin to help them out. The US had over 50 million dollars in the sugar trade and investments. After the purchase, the United States owned all territory except Alaska which belonged to Russia and then Hawaii. Disagreements and fighting began between the pioneers and Indians when the pioneers moved West. The pioneers took over most of the Indians land. Of course, this caused an uproar. US soldiers were sent to battle the Indians, the soldiers won and began to help the government move eastern Indians towards the Mississippi
