In today’s hectic world that we live in, maintaining good health is very important for us to keep up with today’s required lifestyle. I say this because healthy foods today are very expensive. We all need to be healthy regardless of our age, gender and state of living. In order for a tertiary student to maintain good health, I would first of all say that he or she must have a balanced diet. According to the Webster’s dictionary a balance diet is ‘a diet that contains adequate amounts of all the necessary nutrients required for healthy growth and activity.’ They need to consume food from the seven food groups and drink a lot of water each and every day in order to survive and be successful throughout school.
Tertiary students also need to ensure that they eat what nutritionists regard as the most important meal of the day - breakfast. Eating breakfast daily will ensure that students have a great level of concentration and be more focused on the task at hand. Also by eating breakfast, energy will be provided for activities throughout the morning hours and having breakfast will also help to prevent students from being moody.
Secondly, regular exercise is vital in a tertiary student’s lifestyle. Thomas Jefferson once wrote that “to be successful in academic studies, a person should give about two of them [ that’s hours, people] every day to exercise for health must not be sacrificed to learning. A strong body makes the mind strong.” Regular exercise helps to release endorphins that can lessen problems such as depression, which can result in students having to learn to adapt to a new environment, make new friends and other depressing things less likely and increase
