I support the ratification of the American Constitution. My support is based on the need to establish strong institutions with the ability to unite the people of America, establish a stronger federal government, and enable the country to manage the tension and debt arising from the just concluded revolution (Adams 89). The constitution is the leading unifying factor of any democratic nation. I am opposed to the idea of the Anti-federalists that a strong federal constitution would promote the tyranny of the aristocratic classes. I believe a strong constitution would further promote the liberties of the people of America (Kloppenberg 8). Therefore, the American Constitution ought to be ratified to provide for the inclusion of the Bill of Rights. In fact, just like the constitutions of various states of America, the framing of the Bill of Rights should have preceded that of the American Constitution (Kloppenberg 12). Civil liberties represent one of the most basic entitlements of the people against every government on earth and no government whatsoever should refuse to grant this to the people. Amongst the elements of the Bill of Rights should be the prohibitions against searches that are unreasonable as well as unreasonable seizure. While I have never been an enthusiast of slavery, I do not concur with the radical antics of the abolitionists in their attempts to fight the subjugation and enslavement of the black people. Even though I do not seek popularity by inflammatory publications and animated speeches on the enslavement of the black people, my opinion against it is a common knowledge. In fact, I have always employed as domestics or laborers people who are freemen (Kloppenberg 17). However, the abolition of slavery should be a gradual process that should be done with circumspection and caution because the adoption of violence would result in greater violations of justice on humanity, an evil that we are trying to get rid of as American people. I wish to add that presently, there are more pressing issues which threaten the unity we are seeking to achieve as a people. Unlike slavery which is fast diminishing, these issues are growing. For instance, it has come to my knowledge that the common white people in the Southern States, particularly Virginia, live in conditions of degradation, oppression, and misery compared to our Negro brothers (Kloppenberg 18). These miseries deserve as much attention as that we are devoting to slavery and the degraded state of the
